OECD – Iraq Media Briefing - 26 May 2008 in Paris

23/05/2008 - A high-level Iraqi government delegation led by H.E. Baqr Jabor Al-Zubaidy, Minister of Finance of Iraq, will visit OECD, May 26 – 27, to discuss a number of issues including development aid, investment, taxation and anti-corruption measures. The meeting is organised by OECD and UNDP.

H.E. Baqr Jabor Al-Zubaidy, with Stephen Groff, Deputy Director of OECD’s Development Co-operation directorate and Alexander Böhmer, head of the OECD MENA Investment programme will give a short media briefing at 9:45 on Monday 26 May at OECD headquarters. The meeting follows a request by the Government of Iraq to prepare Iraq’s endorsement of the Paris Declaration on Aid Effectiveness.  The government will present its aid management plan and consult OECD on ways to work with international donors in order to make aid most effective. Iraq will sign the Paris Declaration on 29 May in Stockholm. 

OECD, through its Middle East and North Africa Initiative, has been working with Iraq since October 2007 under the framework of the International Compact for Iraq and provides expertise on investment and anti-corruption policies.
