Cathy Trower, Harvard Graduate School of Education, United States

Cathy Trower is the director of COACHE – the Collaborative on Academic Careers in Higher Education – at the Harvard University Graduate School of Education. COACHE was conceived to create a constructive competition among U.S. universities to create a "great place to work". Cathy’s research includes: women in science, faculty recruitment and retention strategies, the issues facing faculty of color, tenure policy and practice, and the values and expectations of "GenX" faculty. Prior to working at Harvard, Trower was a senior academic administrator at Johns Hopkins University. She has a Bachelor’s in Business Administration and an MBA from the University of Iowa, and a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from the University of Maryland at College Park.
