The documents on indicators work have been organised according to the following four-dimensional matrix:

• Geographical coverage: the scope of the documents can be supranational (international organisation or groups of countries), national (country level) or subnational (state, regional or local).
• Subject matter : whether it be a comprehensive study or an effort more focused on one domain of progress: social, environmental, economic, or knowledge & innovation.
• Methodological issues :  technical documents illustrating the main challenges and proposed solutions related to Indicators systems in the fields of statistics and accounting.
• Creating a system: background documents explaining the organisational and political aspects of the process of creating a system of Indicators.
