The OECD has held several workshops, the aim of which is to feed substantively into its meeting at Ministerial level on the Future of the Internet Economy on 17-18 June 2008. These include:
Objectives of these preliminary discussions include:

To enable the exchange of views and information between policy makers, experts from the research community and from the private sector, academia, and civil society.

To discuss the trends shaping the Future of the Internet Economy and foster a forward-looking, international discussions on critical issues related to the Internet.

To explore various approaches -- technical, regulatory, and economic -- that are being taken or can be taken to create new functionality for and increased trust in the Internet, in order to promote its sustained growth and adoption.

To identify opportunities for increased international co-operation on pressing issues.
