The Regional Working Group VI addresses a wide variety of policy issues related to the role of the civil society and of media in Arab countries.
At the GfD Initiative’s Launching Conference, participants agreed on a first set of policy issues to be considered. During the First Meeting of the Initiative’s Steering Group on 27-28 April 2005, these were refined into a “Framework for Policy Dialogue” which will serve to guide the initial Stocktaking Phase.
Working Group VI on Civil Society & Media is chaired by Mr. Ibrahim Daher, Minister for Administrative Reform in Lebanon, and co-chaired by Mr. Joseph Piazza d'Olmo, Programme Manager for Administrative Reform at the Delegation of the European Commission to Lebanon (see Arab Chairs & OECD Co-chairs).
The GfD Working Group V is under the thematic leadership of the OECD's project partner UNDP-POGAR.
Meetings
Its First Meeting took place in Beirut, Lebanon, on 29-30 September 2005.
