National Investment Reform Agenda Workshop, Morocco

23-24 November 2006, Rabat

A key event gathering private and public sector actors to discuss investment policy reform related projects in the Kingdom of Morocco was held in Rabat on November 23-24 2006. The workshop has been organised by the MENA-OECD Investment Programme, in cooperation with the Ministry of Economic and General Affairs of Morocco to discuss and agree on how to best advance the priority investment reform items in the kingdom. Topics discussed during this 2-day workshop included creating a transparent FDI restrictions list, establishing a fiscal incentives framework, creating a corporate governance code and strengthening the venture capital industry. These areas have been prioritised and defined by the Moroccan government in co-operation with the Programme, and are highly actual to the ongoing reforms. Reflecting the importance of the subject, the workshop featured high level participation by government officials, including H.E. Rachid Talbi El Alami, Minister of Economic and General Affairs of Morocco. Private sector representatives also participated actively in the 4 sessions of the workshop.

The following presentations were made during the NIRA workshop in Morocco, other interventions were made orally.
