3rd OECD-Asian Senior Budget Officials meeting, 15-16 December 2005, Bangkok, Thailand

Budget directors from OECD member countries have been meeting regularly for nearly 30 years in the Working Party of Senior Budget Officials, colloquially known as the SBO.

The OECD-Asian SBO Network annually brings the budget directors and other senior officials from the region to address key budgeting concerns and relevant policy options.

The 3rd meeting of the Asian SBO took place in Bangkok on 15-16 December 2005. The meeting was co-chaired by the Thai budget director Mr. Vudhibandhu Vichairatana and the Permanent Secretary of the Australian Department of Finance (who also chairs SBO) Mr. Ian Watt. It opened with a keynote address by the Prime Minister of Thailand Mr. Taksin Shinawatra, which was followed by opening remarks by Deputy Secretary-General Richard Hecklinger on behalf of the OECD. The meeting attracted 110 participants representing all countries in the region.
