The Joint Venture on Public Financial Management (PFM) held a consultative meeting on Public Financial Management on the 27th of May 2008. The meeting was hosted by the South African Treasury and the Collaborative Africa Budget Reform Initiative (CABRI) based in Pretoria.
The consultative meeting brought together members of the OECD-DAC Joint Venture on PFM as well as representatives from 14 partner countries (Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Ghana, Liberia, Namibia, Nepal, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Swaziland, Uganda, and Zambia). These included representatives from Ministries of Finance (budget and accountant general’s departments) and Supreme Audit Institutions. The meeting sought to:

Introduce the Accra High Level Forum on Aid Effectiveness to those less familiar with the process and structure of the event as well as its main objectives;

Communicate the main messages ahead of the Accra High Level Forum relating to Public Financial Management;

Share experiences in the use of country PFM systems between partner countires, and between partners and donors.

Provide an opportunity for partner countries and donors to contribute to the Accra Agenda for Action relating to the use of country PFM systems.
The meeting was held in the context of broader consultative meetings on Aid Effectiveness for the Asia-Pacific, East and South East Asia, South Asia, Central & West Asia, Africa, Latin America and Middle East regions ahead of the upcoming Accra High Level Forum.
