OECD Development Centre and African Development Bank gather agricultural policy makers in Tanzania

Kiichiro Fukasaku, Counsellor/ Head of Regional Desks, OECD Development Centre, provided an overview of both reports while Dr. Sipho Moyo, AfDB Country Representative and Federica Marzo, Development Centre Economist and one of the 2008 AEOs authors, reported the 2008 AEO's major findings. Other participants included H.E. Mr. Peniel Lymo, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Cooperatives. Following the presentaions, discussions among meeting participants and panellists centred around the current food prices crisis and obstacles to the development of Tanzanian agricultural sector, which has a strategic role to play in the development of the country. In follow up to the seminar, Dr. Moyo spoke with the Africa Desk more indepth about some of the issues that had been raised during the meeting.
