CERI - ICT and Initial Teacher Training: Empirical study

The empirical part of the ICT and Initial Teacher Training project is a survey, and a series of institutional case studies:

  • The questionnaires will be sent out to representative samples in the participating countries. The questions try to get a picture of the pedagogical use of ICT in initial teacher training.
  • The case studies will be carried out at two teacher training institutions in each of the participating countries. They will include individual interviews, group interviews, observations and analyses of policies, regulations, course documents and web presentations. The role of the case studies in the overall design is to:
    - Complete the questionnaires and deepen the understanding of the result from the questionnaires.
    - To a certain extent validate the result from the questionnaires.
    - Provide examples of successful practices, and also identify mistakes, waste of resources etc.
It is important to remember that case studies are not intended to be representative, but to serve as  examples.
