10/03/2006 - Moderate expansion lies ahead in the OECD area according to the latest composite leading indicators (CLIs). January data show improved performance in the CLI's six month rate of change in most of the major seven economies with the most positive signals observed in Japan, Germany and Canada. However, slightly weaker performance is evident in the United States.

The CLI for the OECD area rose by 0.3 point in January 2006 to 106.3 from 106.0 in December 2005. Its six-month rate of change rose for the ninth consecutive month...
