Biography

I am a research economist in the OECD Development Centre, where I’m currently working on the annual African Economic Outlook report (AEO).

After my post-graduate studies, I spent the years 2000-2004, and 2005 doing policy research for the UN in Geneva primarily its Specialized Agency – the International Labour Organization, but also briefly for UNCTAD and UNECE – on issues pertaining to the achievement of social dimension of globalization through the new development paradigm named the Decent Work Agenda.

I spent the last year for the ILO at the Area Office in Lusaka, Zambia, which also covered Malawi, Mozambique and Zimbabwe. It was this field experience that gave me the motivation to back to University in 2004 to write a Ph.D. thesis about the linkage between Rural Roads and Agricultural Trade in Zambia.

From 2006-2007 I gained private sector experience through an international consulting group named COWI. Some of the project areas I was involved in included: Output-Based Aid; Public-Private Partnerships; and Various infra-structural projects both in Africa and Europe; etc.
