143rd Session of the Trade Committee - Agenda

1.  State of play in the DDA and the way forward

Delegates are invited to discuss the state of play of the DDA negotiations, including developments coming out of the Hong Kong Ministerial. They are invited to consider what needs to be accomplished in order to respect the tight timeline for completing the DDA by the end of 2006

Delegates are also invited to provide initial guidance to the Chair and the Secretariat on some of the messages they would wish to see reflected in the annual Trade Policy Message from the Chair of the Trade Committee to the 2006 OECD Ministerial Council Meeting.

2. Work in progress

The Secretariat will update Delegates on developments in ongoing work. The Chair of the Working Party of the Trade Committee and the Secretariat are at the Trade Committee’s disposal to answer any questions that Delegates may wish to raise.

a)  Export credits and WTO rules negotiations

The Secretariat will make a brief oral presentation, highlighting some of the recent OECD work on export credits, as well as developments in the area of export credits and the WTO rules negotiations. The Secretariat stands ready to respond to any questions Delegates may have.

b) Update on globalisation and structural adjustment project

The Secretariat will update Delegates on the state of play of the OECD horizontal project on globalisation and structural adjustment, as well as on Trade Committee work in this area.

3.  Results of the prioritisation exercise for the Trade Committee Programme of Work and Budget 2007-2008

The Secretariat will present the results of the exercise. Delegates are invited to provide comments and further guidance to the Secretariat in view of the preparation of the PWB templates.
