Mrs. Jana KOTOVÁ
Mrs. Kotová received a degree in engineering and business administration from the Faculty of Commerce of the University of Economics of Bratislava in 1974.
Early in her career she worked in the field of international tourism at the Central Office for International Tourism (CEDOK) in Prague and Paris, and also for SLOVAKTOURIST in Bratislava. From the mid-1980s on, Mrs. Kotová held various posts at the Publishing House OBZOR in Bratislava. She was also Section Director for Commerce at the World Organization of Journalists (MON) in Prague.
Mrs. Kotová became State Secretary responsible for Tourism in 1990, and Minister of Commerce and Tourism for the Slovak government in the Federal Republic of Czechoslovakia in 1991. Thereafter, until 1993, she was the advisor to the Minister of Economy for the area of Commerce and Tourism. From 1994 to 1998, she was posted to the Slovak Republic’s Embassy to Belgium and Luxembourg as Economic and Commercial Counselor.
Thereafter, Mrs. Kotová occupied the post of chief advisor to the Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration, and advisor for the European Social Fund and International Affairs to the Minister of Labor, Social Affairs and Family. She also developed projects in connection with European Union programs like PHARE, equal opportunities and anti-discrimination, and was engaged in various activities within non-governmental organisations.
In 2005, until her nomination as Permanent Representative of the Slovak Republic to the OECD, Mrs. Kotová was Deputy Director in the Department of Development Co-operation in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She is also Honorary President of the Foundation for Tolerance and Against Discrimination as well as a Member of the Advisory Committee for Equal Opportunities of the European Union.
Ambassador Kotova took up her post on 11 May 2005.
