China Development Forum

On 26 March 2001, the OECD participated in the International Symposium of China Development Forum. This was a joint meetingwith the Development Research Center of the State Council (DRC)of China to present the results of the OECD's recently released horizontal study: China in the World Economy: The Domestic Policy Challenges and discuss with Chinese officials the principle themes and results of the study.

This meeting took place back to back with the DRC's Annual China DevelopmentForum which brings together high level Chinese and foreign officials and international institutions. The Forum is an opportunityconnect with the priniciple politicial and economicactors and decision makers in China.

Financial crisis: Save our savings

Amid the worst current financial crisis since the 1930s, EU leaders have pledged to protect savers’ deposits. Already most OECD countries have explicit deposit insurance schemes for savings up to certain limits. In a number of countries these have now been raised temporarily.
