Creating a Sustainable Future
Lyon, France, 17-19 May 2006

The second Global City Forum, the international urban management summit, took place in Lyon’s Congress Centre. Drawing together the world’s leading cities and experts, the event focused on the exchange of best practice and concrete solutions to make our cities more sustainable.

Organised with the partnership of the OECD, Global City attracted urban decision-makers from over 200 cities and 35 countries, including 100 Mayors and City Leaders. Around the general theme of ‘ Creating a sustainable future for our cities’, the conference addressed the economic, environmental, social and financial dimensions of urban planning. Together with keynote speeches, special events and networking opportunities, over 50 cities with an international outlook presented their strategies to build a sustainable future. Thursday, May 18, featured a dedicated programme for Mayors and City Leaders.
