Background and agenda themes

The OECD-METI-RIETI Conference on Innovation in the Software Sector is organised in the context of an on-going OECD project on this topic.  It will consider business and economic perspectives taking into account the factors that drive innovation in the sector, including key framework conditions.
The agenda will be centred on the following themes:

  • Understanding the dynamics of the software sector
  • Software industry and user perspectives
  • Industry architecture and technology perspectives
  • Policy perspectives

The conclusions of the conference will provide an important input into the OECD project and will be taken into account in a report to be released in 2009.

(On 7 October 2008, following the conference, an OECD technical workshop will be held at RIETI to discuss innovation in the software sector with particular regard to the OECD report.  The issues to be covered in the technical workshop fall under three broad themes: the economic processes, research and development, and user perspectives.)
