European Conference on Public Awareness and Development Education for North-South Solidarity, Palais d'Egmont, Brussels

At the European conference on public awareness and development education for north-south solidarity, European parliamentarians, development policy makers, and civil society organisations from the 25 EU member states will exchange experiences and explore ways of working better together towards fostering stronger North-South Solidarity in Europe -- 19 and 20 May 2005, Palais d'Egmont, Brussels (by invitation only).


The OECD Development Centre is pleased to be associated with this conference, jointly organised by the Direcorate-Generale of Belgian Development Co-operation (DGDC) and the European Commission, in co-operation with CONCORD (the European NGDO platform) and the North-South Centre of the Council of Europe.

The two-day programme comprises several plenary sessions and focused topical workshops. The conference will be addressed by several personalities including Mr Armand De Decker, Belgian Minister for Development Cooperation, Mr Louis Michel, European Commissioner for Development and Humanitarian Aid, Ms Eveline Herfkens, UN Executive Coordinator for the MDGs Campaign, Mr Henny Helmich, Director of NCDO-Netherlands, and Mr Jean-Louis Schiltz, Minister for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Action of Luxembourg.
