African Economic Outlook 2002/2003 - Country Studies

The core section of the report is based on a country-by-country analysis, and contains for every country a 20-page study presented according to a common analytical framework. This common framework includes a forecasting exercise for the next two years, based on a simple macroeconomic model, together with an analysis of the social and political context. The 2001/2002 report covered 22 countries: Burkina-Faso, Botswana, Cameroon, Chad, Côte d'Ivoire, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia, Gabon, Ghana, Kenya, Mali, Mauritius, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda and Zimbabwe.

In the second edition, Chad, Equatorial Guinea and Namibia are replaced by Algeria, Tunisia and Zambia. The 2002/2003 edition also focuses more specifically on privatisation. The structure of the country notes remains however unchanged. The section devoted to structural issues includes both a description of the privatisation process and an account of the already privatised companies' performance.
