GDP in the OECD area rose by 0.5% in the fourth quarter of 2005

20/02/2006 - According to preliminary estimates, gross domestic product (GDP) in the OECD area rose by 0.5% in the fourth quarter of 2005, lower than in the three previous quarters.

In the United States quarterly GDP grew by 0.3% in the fourth quarter of 2005, noticeably less than the average 0.9% growth recorded over the previous eight quarters. Japan's quarterly GDP rose strongly by 1.4%, following robust growth earlier in 2005. GDP in the Euro area rose by 0.3%, less than the growth of 0.6% recorded in the previous quarter. 

Among the Major Seven countries quarterly GDP growth in the fourth quarter of 2005 varied from 0.0% in Germany to 1.4% in Japan...
