OECD countries welcome Chile's participation in the OECD’s taxation work

The 30 member countries of the OECD agreed to invite Chile to participate in the work of the Committee on Fiscal Affairs in recognition of the role that Chile has played in the area of tax policy and administration.

Chile will have the status of Observer, a position that allows it to participate actively in all aspects of the Committee’s work. Other non-OECD countries with Observer status in the Committee on Fiscal Affairs are Argentina, China, Russia and South Africa.

Chile has made significant progress in modernising its tax policy and tax administration in recent years, and has been a key partner for the OECD in the Latin American region. Chile has also hosted a number of OECD meetings and has played an active role in the Committee's Forum of Tax Administration. Mr. Paolo Ciocca, the Chair of the Committee, welcomed the decision, noting that, "I look forward to an active participation by Chile in the Committee. This will be a two-way learning process".
