Workshop on global ICT services sourcing post-crisis: trends and developments

A workshop on trends and prospects for international sourcing of ICT services, organised by the OECD in co-operation with the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) of Egypt under the auspices of the Egyptian Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, took place just prior to, and at the same venue as, the 4th meeting of the Internet Governance Forum.

Venue: Maritim Jolie Ville Golf & Resort Hotel, Sharm el-Sheikh (Egypt)

 

The aims of the workshop were to examine recent trends in international sourcing in view of the crisis. It was designed to provide an overview of recent developments, the needs of the IT services demand side, challenges on the supply side, and to draw out lessons for strategy and policy. The workshop was structured around the following themes:  

  • New ICT services and developments in established services
  • Implications of global sourcing for developing countries
  • Views of ICT services buyers
  • The impacts of the crisis
  • New providers of services: beyond the storm 
  • Building the framework for successful services development and supply.
