Inflation in the OECD area fell to 1.9% year-on-year in January 2007

07/03/2007 - In the OECD area, consumer prices rose by 1.9% in the year to January 2007, compared with 2.2% in the year to December 2006. On a monthly basis, the price level rose by 0.1% in January 2007 after 0.2% between November and December 2006.

Consumer prices for energy remained stable year-on-year in January after a rise by 3.8% in December. Consumer prices for food were up by 2.4% year-on-year in January, compared with 2.5% in December. Excluding food and energy, consumer price rose by 2.1% in the year to January after a rise by 2.0% in December 2006.
