Who may join IMHE?

  • Membership is open (subject to the Governing Board approval) to institutions of higher education in any OECD Member country and certain non-member economies. Government departments, agencies and other non-profit organisations dealing with issues in higher education management are also welcome to join.

 

What are the advantages of IMHE membership?

Participation in activities and conferences

Members are entitled to take part in all activities organised by or in collaboration with the IMHE Programme, including:

  • Reduced registration fees to attend the biennial General Conference of member institutions; seminars on specific topics; members benefit from reduced-price participation and preferential booking
  • Special invitations to other OECD Education conferences and seminars
  • Opportunities for networking and information exchange with other members
  • If you are elected, you may participate in the IMHE Governing Board and become part of IMHE's work programme decision-making process

Affiliate benefits

IMHE has formed an affiliation with the Consortium for North American Higher Education Collaboration CONAHEC, so that IMHE members may benefit from:

  • A reduced fee of 15% when signing up for CONAHEC membership
  • Reductions to attend the (CONAHEC) conferences

NB: Institutions who are already members of CONAHEC may benefit from a reduction of 10% of the annual IMHE membership fee (this applies only after expiry of the initial 2-year introductory rate)

Free subscriptions and access to publications 

Members receive the latest reports and research on higher education management:

  • Free access to all online OECD publications (via source OECD) (**For personal use only by the organisation’s main IMHE contacts)
  • Three subscriptions to Higher Education Management and Policy
  • IMHE Info three times a year
  • IMHE news to members several times a year
  • Unpublished documentation from IMHE meetings

How to join?

Membership Fees

The annual membership fee is 3400€ and is for the calendar year.


Special introductory fee for higher education institutions

In 2010, a special rate of 2100€ per year for the first two years of membership is available for new members. This rate is subject to change. It is for individual higher education institutions only and does not apply to collective bodies, ministries or groups of universities. After two years at the reduced rate, the full annual fee is payable.


Payments for the current year

Organisations joining during the year and liable for the full fee may pay a reduced rate according to the following scale:

  • 3400€ – applications approved between 1 January and 30 April
  • 2250€ – applications approved between 1 May and 31 August
  • 1200€ – applications approved between 1 September and 30 October
  • Free – applications approved between 1 November to 31 December

For the reduced rate:

  • 2100€ – applications approved between 1 January and 31 August (+ introductory fee for the following year)
  • 1200€ – applications approved between 1 September and 30 October (+ introductory fee for the following year)
  • Free – applications approved between 1 November to 31 December (+ introductory fee for the following two years)

 

Cancellation of membership
The work of IMHE is paid for by its members, therefore we ask that requests for cancellation of membership for the following year must be notified by 30 June of the current year. If a request is received after 30 June, then the membership payment remains due for the following year and the cancellation will be effective as of the year after that.
