Bovespa awards OECD for supporting Corporate Governance improvements in Brazil

@ OECD 2007

OECD and the Latin American Roundtable on Corporate Governance were recognized as being among the five main institutional supporters of Bovespa's Novo Mercado in a ceremony on March 1, 2007.  Bovespa was celebrating the 100th company to join the special corporate governance listing segments of the trading board, which are reserved for corporations voluntarily committing to higher than legally required standards of corporate governance and transparency, Bovespa reports. The Novo Mercado, launched in 2000, has helped to transform the Brazilian market, with companies committing to the corporate governance listing segments constituting 58% of overall trading volume and market capitalization by the end of 2006.  OECD has been providing advice and support since the first Latin American Roundtable on Corporate Governance was held in Brazil in April 2000, the same year the Novo Mercado was launched.
