Mr. Antti KUOSMANEN
Mr. Kuosmanen was born in Juva, Finland, in 1950. He holds a Masters in Mathematics, Economics and Statistics from the University of Helsinki which he obtained in 1974.
In 1976, Mr. Kuosmanen entered the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as an Attaché. In 1980 he was appointed to the Permanent Mission of Finland to International Organisations in Geneva. In 1984, he returned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Helsinki. From 1988 to 1992, Mr. Kuosmanen served as First Secretary at the Permanent Mission of Finland to the European Union in Brussels. Then, in 1992, he was promoted to the rank of Minister Counsellor and named Deputy Permanent Representative of the Permanent Mission of Finland to the EU in Brussels. In 1993, he returned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as Director of the Division for European Integration at the Department for External Economic Relations.
From 1995 to 1996, Mr. Kuosmanen was Deputy Head of the EU Secretariat at the Ministry. From 1996 to 2002, he was Director at the General Secretariat of the Council of the European Union. In 2002, he returned to the Ministry as Director-General of the Department for External Economic Relations, with the rank of Ambassador.
From 2005, until his nomination as Permanent Representative of Finland to the OECD, Mr. Kuosmanen was Ambassador of Finland to China and Mongolia.
Ambassador Antti Kuosmanen took up his duties as Permanent Representative of Finland to the OECD on 1 September 2009.
