Conference on corporate responsibility in Asia: Why responsible business conduct matters

2-3 November 2009 - Bangkok, Thailand

Organised by the OECD and ESCAP, this regional conference on corporate responsibility in Asia was titled “Why Responsible Business Conduct Matters”. The event took place as part of the “Trade and Investment Week at the UN Conference Centre in Bangkok, Thailand, and benefited from the participation of the ILO, the UN Global Compact, the GRI and key players from the OECD and Asia/Pacific region.  

The conference focused on:

  • the respective roles of governments, business and other stakeholders in promoting responsible business conduct (RBC) in the OECD and Asian contexts
  • learning from concrete experiences, with a special focus on climate change and financial issues
  • the supporting role of the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises and other leading international corporate responsibility instruments
