Mr. Agustin GARCÍA-LÓPEZ LOAEZA

Mr. García-López was born in 1962. He received his degree in Economics from Columbia University, New York and a Masters in Economics from the same university.

From 1986 to 1989, he served as Economic Advisor to the Minister of Foreign affairs. From 1989 to 1993, Mr. García-López served as Economic Counsellor of the Mexican Embassy in London. In 1991 he formally joined the Mexican Foreign Service. In 1993 he returned to Mexico and was appointed Director of Financial Affairs for North America, the Pacific and the Carribean at the Ministry of the Treasury. Then, in 1995 he took up the post of General Director for OECD Affairs and Economic Analysis at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From 1998 to 2000, Mr. García-López became General Director for Cooperation and Development at the Ministry. In 2000, he was General Director of International Financial Affairs at the Ministry of the Treasury.

Prior to taking up his appointment as Permanent Representative of Mexico to the OECD, Mr. García-López was Chief Executive for Mexico and the Dominican Republic to the Inter-American Development Bank and to the Inter-American Cooperation for Investments. During his tenure at the IDB, Mr. García-López served as Chair of the Budget and Financial Policies Committee, Chair of the Executive Committee of the Inter-American Corporation of Investments, Chair of the Auditor Committee, and Dean of the Board of Executive Director.

Mr. García-López also represented Mexico at the Multilateral Investment Fund. He has taught international economics at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), Universidad Iberoamericana, ENEP Acatlán and the Instituto Matías Romero.

Ambassador Agustin García-López Loaeza took up his duties as Permanent Representative of Mexico to the OECD on 19 March 2007.
