Alberta joins CELE

The OECD Centre for Effective Learning Environments is pleased to welcome Alberta Education (Canada) as its latest Associate Member.


Alberta Education “supports the needs of students, parents, teachers and administrators from Early Childhood Services through Grade 12” for the province. The ministry’s responsibilities include:

• developing curriculum and setting standards and school and curriculum evaluation;
• teacher development and certification;
• supporting special needs students;
• funding and supporting school boards;
• aboriginal and francophone education;
• overseeing basic education policy and regulations;
• planning and managing school capital infrastructure


The Province of Alberta, in western Canada, has a population of over 3.6 million and measures 662 000 square kilometres.  Alberta Education is CELE’s second Associate Member from Canada. Visit their website at http://education.alberta.ca/.
