IMHE - Study visits

Study tours are designed to offer the opportunity to explore the challenges facing universities by visiting a range of institutions in different countries. They provide networking opportunities and the chance to exchange views among colleagues. Study visits provide useful opportunities to learn about the realities of institutional management in their national contexts, to maintain contact with member institutions and to make contact with non-members. Three study visits have been arranged in recent years: to North Carolina, United States in 1999; to institutions in north-west Europe in 2000; and to Nova Scotia and Quebec, Canada in 2002. Visits last approximately ten days, and focus on themes which take account of the priorities of IMHE projects, the characteristics of the area visited and the interests of participants. The visits are organised by the IMHE Secretariat and led by an academic of renom who is experienced in leading this type of tour.
