OECD iLibrary

The preliminary version of the OECD iLibrary is now available. Initially, it will be made available to subscribers via a link from the home page of SourceOECD.  The two sites will run in parallel until we are satisfied that all content and functions that are currently available on SourceOECD are available on OECD iLibrary and working properly. Once we reach that milestone, we will redirect links to SourceOECD to OECD iLibrary.  Following that, we will continue to roll out additional new features.

Further Information for Librarians

On the evening of 17 July 2009, the OECD iLibrary was made available. Initially, it is being made available via a link from the home page of SourceOECD.

Q1) Does my library need to to anything now to access OECD iLibrary?

A) Nothing this summer. Simply link through to OECD iLibrary from the SourceOECD home page and enjoy trying out the new site.

At a certain point, all links to www.SourceOECD.org will be redirected to www.OECDiLibrary.org. At that point we will contact librarians and recommend that they change their links to the OECD iLibrary address.

Q2) Will my library need to change any settings on its proxy server?

A) Yes, "OECDiLibrary.org"  and "oecd.org" should be added to the list of domain names in your proxy server setting.

Q3) Will existing links in my library's OPAC for SourceOECD continue to work within the iLibrary?

A) Yes. Once we are satisfied OECD iLibrary is functioning satisfactorily, existing Easylinks will be remapped to their equivalent on OECD iLibrary.  However, each item (book, chapter, table/graph, journal, journal issue, journal article, working paper, database, data table, etc.) in OECD iLibrary will have its own home page with both a permanent public URL as well as a DOI-based link. OpenURL compliancy and MARC records will also become available shortly. Librarians will be informed when this occurs.

Q4) Will my library have to re-register its IP ranges?

A) No. All subscription information for SourceOECD will be transferred to
OECD iLibrary.

Q5) How will Usage Statistics be handled during the transition period?

A) Usage statistics collection under OECD iLibrary will commence as soon as the site is opened to subscribers at the end of June 2009. However, reports will not be available until ingenta implements COUNTER 3 compliancy this fall. OECD iLibrary usage reports will NOT include SourceOECD usage.

Q6) How long will SourceOECD and OECD iLibrary run in parallel?

A) Until we are fully satisfied that OECD iLibrary is fully functional in all respects.

Q7) Will statistical databases continue to be presented in Beyond 20/20 format in
OECD iLibrary?

No. Except for IEA data, which will continue to be presented in Beyond 20/20 format until it is made available in OECD.Stat, and full access to OECD Health Data, which will continue to be presented via the IRDES web site until it is made available in OECD.Stat, all statistical databases will be presented via OECD.Stat. OECD is phasing out use of Beyond 20/20.

While content comparable to that found on SourceOECD will be available on OECD iLibrary by the end of June 2009,  OECD iLibrary will continue to be developed.  Features being added soon will include COUNTER-compliant usage statistics, MARC21 xml records, federated searching access, reference linking, Open URL compliancy, etc. OECD's  current online library, SourceOECD, as well as the OECD iLibrary will both be accessible until the development of the iLibrary site has reached a satisfactory level.  Explore the preliminary version at http://www.oecdilibrary.org.  Questions and comments are welcome at oecdilibrary@oecd.org or your local OECD Centre:
