Dr. Diana Bracco
President and CEO – Bracco Group
Diana Bracco graduated in Chemistry at the University of Pavia, Italy, where, in 2001, she was awarded an Honorary Degree in Pharmaceutical Science. In June 2002, she was appointed by President Carlo Azeglio Ciampi “Cavaliere del Lavoro”, Italy’s most prestigious award made in recognition of those who have made a particularly important contribution to the country’s economic development. In the same year she was awarded the Medaglia d’Oro from the Comune di Milano.
Managing Director of Bracco SpA since 1977, Diana Bracco became President and CEO of the Company in 1999. The Group she heads is today a world leader in the diagnostic imaging field, and is active, both directly and through joint-ventures, in the world’s major markets: Europe, the U.S.A. and Japan.
Three research centres in Milan, Geneva and Princeton, N.J., together with partnerships with leading universities and research institutes both at home and abroad, make up what is an international network of the highest level which testifies to the Bracco Group’s commitment to research and innovation. The Group’s state-of-the-art, environment-friendly production facilities in Italy and abroad are at the forefront of innovation.
Alongside her professional responsibilities, Diana Bracco takes a leading role in associations in which her Company is involved: from May 2000 to June 2003 she held the position of Vice President of Confindustria, (Italy’s Association of Industrialists), in the field of “Innovation and Technological Development”.
Following her term as Vice President of Federchimica (Italy’s Association of Chemical Industries), in June 2003, she became President.
Past President of the Responsible Care Program, set up by Federchimica to promote the chemical industry’s active participation in the protection of the environment for sustainable growth.
Over the years she has also shown strong commitment to supporting a variety of projects designed for the benefit of both the Company staff and the local community. In line with the Bracco Group’s concrete social commitment, specific initiatives have been set up in support of women, the family, the environment, art, culture, music and social solidarity. In short, Diana Bracco promotes “active corporate citizenship”.
Ms. Bracco is also highly active in the sector of non-profit associations. She is member of the Board of CSR Europe - Corporate Social Responsibility – and was, until recently, President of Sodalitas, an association whose scope is the development of entrepreneurship in the social field, which was set up by Assolombarda, (Milan’s Association of Industrialists) in support of volunteer associations. She is Vice President of both ASM, the Association for the Study of Malformations, and of the Fondazione Mercuriale, as well as an active member of the Board of Friends of the Fondazione Floriani Association, AGER – Association for Geriatric Research and the Study of Longevity and the Maria Chiantore Seragnoli Hospice Foundation. She is also member of the Guarantors’ Committee and the Milan Universities College Foundation scientific Committee.
