Review of China's National Innovation System: Domestic Reform and Global Integration

This conference (click here for programme and presentations) launched the synthesis report of the first OECD review on Chinese National Innovation System (NIS), carried out in close collaboration with MOST, China.
Click here to download the preliminary conference version of the synthesis report. The synthesis will be revised in light of conference discussions and included in the full OECD Review of Innovation Policy: China, to be published in September 2008.

 

The main objectives of the conference were:

  • To present the main findings of the Review, highlighting the remarkable improvements that China has achieved to date and the challenges in further building China’s national innovation system, 
  • To facilitate mutual learning between China and the OECD countries through policy dialogues on selected issues central to the further construction of the Chinese national innovation system.

Invited participants at this conference included high-level government officials responsible for S&T and innovation in China and from selected OECD countries, representatives of Chinese industry and foreign enterprises in China, R&D communities in China including public R&D institutions and universities, international organisations and prominent international experts.

Back to back with the conference, a high-level international business symposium (click here for programme and presentations) was organised on 28 August to further explore the issues of globalisation of R&D and its implications in the context of China’s drive to become an innovation-based economy.
