Official Visit of the Secretary-General to Israel (31 October - 4 November 2007)

During his official visit to Israel, Secretary-General Angel Gurría met with:

The main themes of the discussions were Israel as a candidate country for accession to the OECD, and the Israeli economic situation and challenges ahead.
 
Mr. Gurría delivered a keynote address at the 2007 Prime Minister's Conference for Export and International Co-operation on 01 November.

Financial crisis: Save our savings

Amid the worst current financial crisis since the 1930s, EU leaders have pledged to protect savers’ deposits. Already most OECD countries have explicit deposit insurance schemes for savings up to certain limits. In a number of countries these have now been raised temporarily.
