Financial Support to OECD Fisheries: Implications for Sustainable Development

In answer to a questionnaire developed by the Fisheries Secretariat of the OECD in 2004, ten OECD Member countries have submitted country inventories to date.

These inventories enable a more detailed analysis of the economic, environmental and social effects of the transfer programmes than was previously possible from the report of one figure against a general category of transfer.

The work is part of the OECD Committee for Fisheries 2002-2005 Programme of Work. Detailed reporting and analysis on the use of government financial transfers to fisheries in OECD countries will be done by the end of 2005.
