OECD - NIPFP India Symposium, June 2011

14 June 2011, India Habitat Centre, Delhi, India

Inclusive growth is the central policy issue for India. The need to promote an inclusive growth that is both equitable and shared is as important for India as it is for all mature, emerging-market and developing economies.

To coincide with the release of the latest OECD Economic Survey on India, the OECD, in partnership with the Indian National Institute of Public Finance and Policy (NIPFP), hosted an important and timely discussion entitled "Towards Balanced Development and Inclusive Growth: The Indian Experience".

The discussion centred on current reform efforts and challenges in the promotion of inclusive growth in India, focusing on the areas of economic reform and fiscal policy, financial sector reform, education and healthcare policies.

This was of particular interest to relevant policy makers, practitioners and stakeholders in sharing their experience broadly and in exchanging with their colleagues and with OECD commentators/experts.
