  Hungary

Date of creation: 2008

Audience/Coverage:

General public, school children and teachers.

Sector, Sponsor,  Responsible body(ies):

HFSA Consumer Protection Department

Tools & Programmes:
Website and competitions.

Description (Aim & Needs):

The HFSA has recently launched two competitions:

- one is in connection with internet banking education in high schools.
This opened competition aims to improve the financial literacy of pupils through the application of the Internet and electronic devices. The project aims to teach students the safe usage of electronic banking matters. Young generations are usually very opened to technical innovations; therefore the HFSA thinks that this complex program will be a very useful way to develop financial literacy among the young people.
- The other competition is a teachers’ training program on how to teach financial matters in high schools. There are several teaching materials to improve financial literacy in Hungary but there is a need for qualified staff (teaching method, awareness of financial issues,..) to train students. Three universities volunteered to set up a training program on how financial matters should be explained in high schools and fit in the schools curricula.
