Rimantas Zelvys, Professor, Vice-Rector for Research, Vilnius Pedagogical University, Lithuania

In 1982 graduated from Vilnius University, Lithuania (graduate diploma in Psychology). From 1982 to 1988 worked as a clinical psychologist in a family counseling centre, mental hospital, vocational guidance centre. In 1988 received a Ph.D. (Psychology) in Leningrad V. Bechterev psychoneurological scientific research institute, Russia. From 1988  till 1992 worked in a Lithuanian In-Service Teacers’ Training Institute. Since 1991 – associated professor. Since 1992 worked in Vilnius University. In 1995 received a MA (Education Management) in the University of Wolverhampton, United Kingdom. From 1993 to 2003 – Head of the Department of Education in Vilnius University. In 2000 received a Habil. Dr. degree (Education) in Vilnius Pedagogical University, Lithuania. Since 2001 – professor. Since 2003 – Vice-Rector for Research in Vilnius Pedagogical University.

As an international expert on education worked with the OECD missions in transition countries: Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Hungary, Albania (1995). Expert evaluator of teacher training programs in Lithuanian and Latvian Centers for Quality Assurance in Higher Education. Expert on Education for the UNDP Lithuanian Human Development Report (2000). Expert at the European Commission Working Group Open Learning Environment, active citizenship and social inclusion on Defining objectives for education and training systems (2003-2004). The World Bank expert on Teacher Training Reform in Moldova (2003) and on Equal Access to Quality Education Project in Ukraine (2004).
