The Secretariat congratulates H.E. Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, co-recipient of the 2011 Nobel Peace Prize

The Secretariat of the International Dialogue on Peacebuilding and Statebuilding extends its congratulations to the President of Liberia, H.E. Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, on being awarded the 2011 Nobel Peace Prize. President Sirleaf shares the award with another Liberian, peace activist Leymah Gbowee, and Yemeni journalist Tawakul Karman.  

 

Now available: Monrovia Roadmap on Peacebuilding and Statebuilding

Delegates at the second global meeting of the International Dialogue formed a joint agreement, the Monrovia Roadmap on Peacebuilding and Statebuilding. The Roadmap includes an agreement to support nationally led assessments of fragility, a stronger emphasis on inclusive political dialogue, the use of a country-level agreements between government and international partners to agree on priorities and results, and a 'new deal' to improve the delivery of international assistance to fragile situations. Read more...

Second Global Meeting of the International Dialogue held in Monrovia

The second Global Meeting of the International Dialogue brought together over 130 participants from conflict-affected and fragile countries, international partners and civil society organisations. The meeting achieved a ground-breaking agreement on five peacebuilding and statebuilding objectives as pre-conditions to work towards the MDGs in fragile and conflict-affected states. Read more...

Working Groups meet to begin work on Action Plan to be delivered at HLF-4 in Korea

International Dialogue Working Groups on planning processes and political dialogue will hold their first meetings in Paris on 15-16 December to begin working toward an Action Plan to be delivered at the Fourth High Level Forum on Aid Effectiveness in Busan, Korea in November 2011. Working groups on capacity development and aid instruments held their first meetings 18-19 November. Read more...

The g7+ addresses conflict and fragility at the MDG Review Summit

The President of Timor–Leste, José Ramos-Horta, spoke on behalf of the g7+ at the UN General Assembly. The g7+ is an independent and autonomous forum of fragile and conflict-affected countries and regions. Representatives of g7+ countries met in the margins of the MDG Review Summit to present a unified voice on the importance of addressing conflict and fragility in order to achieve the MDGs. Side-event at the MDG Summit: "Achieving the MDGs: addressing conflict, fragility and armed violence"

No conflict-affected or fragile state has achieved a single MDG and these countries account for three quarters of the total MDG deficit. A side-event was held at the MDG Review Summit on 20 September to raise awareness about the role conflict, fragility and armed violence play in impeding MDG progress.
