Gender equality is an essential human right and crucial for economic growth. Work of the OECD Development Centre highlights the important linkages between women's empowerment and long-term sustainable development. The Development Centre also proposes a set of innovative measures to quantify inequalities between men and women.

In the Spotlight: Wikigender - Your online resource on gender equality

On the occasion of International Women's Day, the OECD Development Centre launched a new website to share and exchange information on gender equality. Wikigender (www.wikigender.org) reaches out to the public to foster a bottom-up dialogue on the importance of women's rights. More on Wikigender
