MENA business addresses responsible business conduct

The MENA-OECD Investment Programme, the Egyptian Institute of Directors, the Egyptian Corporate Responsibility Center, Global Compact Center in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the World Bank Institute (WBI), and the European Union (EU) organised  the meeting of the Regional Task Force on Responsible Business Conduct  in Cairo, Egypt.

H.E. Dr. Mahmoud Mohieldin, Minister of Investment of Egypt, together with international organisations’ representatives stressed the importance of responsible business conduct to ensure law enforcement and fight corruption in  the context of the current crisis.

More than 200 participants representing MENA governments, businesses, civil society and OECD member countries discussed concrete initiatives to engage in responsible business conduct and strengthen partnerships in identified priority areas, such as business integrity, anti-corruption, education and employement, and environment and health.

The meeting concluded that conducting business in a responsible way will contribute to social development in the region and have long-term positive effects on society.

The meeting in Cairo served to identify actions and specific outputs to be pursued by the task force to foster responsible business conduct in the MENA region.
