Task Force on Public Financial Management Meeting, Delhi, India 15-16 December 2010

The Task Force on Public Financial Management meeting was hosted by India’s Auditor and Comptroller General. In addressing the meeting, the Auditor General highlighted the importance of sharing experiences to better target aid and to ensure the desired outcomes of public expenditure in partner countries. Participants shared their experiences on using, assessing, and strengthening country PFM systems and accountability institutions including parliament; as well as contributing to the finalization of Task Force on PFM products in these areas. Partner countries also used the meeting as an opportunity to provide their views on the key messages from the Task Force in preparation for the HLF-4 (29 November – 1 December 2011) in Busan. Building Sustainable Financial Management Capacity: Conclusions from the joint OECD DAC, World Bank and IFAC meeting (13 July 2010, Paris)

This meeting, Building Sustainable Financial Management Capacity, explored the role of the accountancy profession in furthering capacity in public financial management in partner countries.

A sound legal and regulatory framework and strong accountancy profession are essential to building sustainable capacity at the country level. Participants agreed to outline concrete options for enhancing co-operation between the accountancy profession and the donor community in the future.

These options will be presented for consideration at the next meeting of the Task Force on Public Financial Management,15-16 December 2010, India.
