2009 Conference on Empowering E-Consumers: Strengthening Consumer Protection in the Internet Economy, Washington, 8-10 December 2009
In follow-up to the Seoul Ministerial Meeting on the Future of the Internet Economy, the OECD’s Committee on Consumer Policy has initiated a review of the 1999 OECD Guidelines for Consumer Protection in the Context of Electronic Commerce to examine their effectiveness in OECD and non-member economies, and explore the opportunities and challenges faced by consumers in today’s e-commerce. The Conference will bring together senior government officials from OECD and non-member economies with academics, representatives from the business, civil society and international organisations. The purpose will be to identify gaps in the guidelines and to examine areas where the Guidelines may need to be adapted or revised. The Impact of the Crisis on ICTs and Their Role in the Recovery, July 2009
This up-to-date analysis shows that the economic performance of the ICT supply side has been better than other crisis-stricken industries, that it has fared worst in some Asian countries notably Japan, and that there are signs of an upturn in the most recent data. It also looks at the broader role of ICTs in the economy and possible impacts on the recovery.
Guide to Measuring the Information Society, July 2009
The newly released Guide to the Information Society 2009 covers the definition of industries producing ICT goods and services (the "ICT sector"), a classification for ICT goods, the definitions of e-commerce and Internet transactions, and model questionnaires and methodologies for measuring ICT use and e-commerce by businesses and households/individuals.

Mobile broadband growth is significant in markets where data are available. Although data is not yet easily available, this paper provides an overview of prices, speeds and data caps of mobile broadband services.

ENUM comprises a diverse set of standards and non-standardised mechanisms for transforming public telephone numbers into unique domain names.
The Role of Digital Identity Management in the Internet Economy: A Primer for Policy Makers, June 2009
This primer aims to provide policy makers a broad-brush understanding of the various dimensions of digital identity management (IdM). Consistent with the Seoul Ministerial Declaration, it also aims to support efforts to address public policy issues for securely managing and protecting digital identities, with a view to strengthening confidence in the online activities crucial to the growth of the Internet Economy.

The OECD broadband portal provides access to a range of broadband-related statistics gathered by the OECD. Policy makers must examine a range of indicators which reflect the status of individual broadband markets in the OECD.
