Mr Dominic MARTIN
Dominic Martin was born in London on 25 November 1964. He was educated at the University of Oxford from 1983-1987, graduating with a BA in Classics.
In 1987, Mr. Martin joined the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. In 1988, he was appointed to the Falkland Islands Department as an Assistant Desk Officer. From 1989 to 1992, he was Third Secretary and subsequently Second Secretary, responsible for political affairs at the British High Commission in New Delhi, India. In 1992, Mr. Martin returned to London as First Secretary at the European Communities Department in charge of the team handling European Union enlargement. Then, in 1994, he was appointed First Secretary on the Policy Planning Staff.
From 1995 to 1999, Mr. Martin served at the British Embassy to Argentina as First Secretary responsible for political and economic affairs. In 1999, he was appointed Deputy Head of the European Union Department (External affairs), again with responsibility for enlargement issues. From 2001 to 2004, he was Counsellor for political affairs at the British Embassy in India.
From 2004 until his nomination as Permanent Representative of the United Kingdom to the OECD, Mr. Martin was Counsellor for Political, Economic and Public affairs at the British Embassy in Washington D.C.
Ambassador Martin is married to Emily Walter, also a career diplomat, and has three children.
Ambassador Dominic Martin took up his duties as Permanent Representative of the United Kingdom to the OECD on 23 July 2008.
