Mr. Ulrik Vestergaard Knudsen
Mr. Knudsen was born in Frederiksberg, Denmark on 14 February 1969. He graduated with a Masters in Economics from the University of Copenhagen, which he obtained in 1994.
The same year, Mr. Knudsen joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, serving as a Head of Section. In 1997 he was appointed Secretary of the Danish Embassy in Moscow. Then, he became an External Lecturer at the University of Copenhagen. From 1998 to 2000, he was appointed Embassy Secretary at the Danish Embassy in Washington D.C. In 2000, he returned to Copenhagen and was appointed Private Secretary and subsequently, in 2001 Principal Private Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs. From 2001 to 2003 Mr. Knudsen was Press Adviser to the Minister. From 2003 to 2004, he served as counsellor for Economic and European policy at the Danish Embassy in London. In 2004, he returned to the Office of the Minister of Foreign Affairs as Head of Department and Head of Press.
From 2006 until his nomination as Permanent Representative of Denmark to the OECD,
Mr. Knudsen was Head of the Minister of Foreign Affairs’ Office with the personal rank of Ambassador.
Mr. Knudsen is the author of academic articles, papers and books in the fields of globalisation, regional cooperation, WTO and trade policy.
Ambassador Ulrik Vestergaard Knudsen took up his duties as Permanent Representative of Denmark to the OECD on 11 July 2008.
