Promoting greater coherence on capacity development action within the OECD

An inventory of OECD-wide actions in capacity development has identified at least 18 capacity development-related work streams in the Organisation.

To promote greater coherence and experience sharing on the topic of capacity development across these directorates and divisions, an internal work group on capacity development was created in November 2008. A series of group events has been identified where the priority interests of the various work streams best converge.

Topics of broader interest include:

  • Capacity development and country systems;
  • State building and capacity development in fragile situations;
  • Capacity development and the Southern perspective;
  • Capacity development good practice at the sector/theme level;
  • Systemic impediments that undermine capacity development.
