Capacity Building for Local Development
In June 2003, the OECD Council decided to establish, in co-operation with the Italian Government and the Autonomous Province of Trento, an OECD LEED Centre for Local Development in Trento. The mission of the Centre is to build capacities for local development in OECD member and non-member countries, with a focus on central and eastern European countries. The Trento Centre is an integral part of the OECD LEED Programme. More about the mission and objectives.

Capacity Building Seminar for New and Nascent Local Development Partnerships in Central-East and South-East Europe, Trento, Italy, 10-12 November 2008
The objective of this 2.5-day seminar is to improve the functioning of local partnerships. The seminar is aimed at local partnership practitioners and their counterparts in local and national governments. The seminar will focus on three main themes: (i) what makes local partnership building successful?; (ii) what are the key elements of a national support framework for local development partnerships?; and (iii) how to manage and improve performance?

Compendium of OECD recommendations for policy action and local initiatives to strengthen entrepreneurship
The compendium is part of project on "Strengthening Entrepreneurship and Economic Development in East Germany"carried out by the OECD and the Federal Ministry of Housing, Land, Construction, Transport and Urban Affairs. The compendium is built of several themes of relevance to local entrepreneurship development in East Germany. It brings together recommendations, International learning models and good practice in East Germany.

Final Seminar on "Strategic Planning and Evaluation for Regional and Local Development in Latvia", Riga, Latvia, 17 June 2008
This seminar presented and debated the result of work undertaken by the OECD Local Economic and Employment Development (LEED) Programme on how best to support the design, implementation and evaluation of local development strategies in Latvia.
Capacity Building Seminar for Partnerships on "Designing and Delivering Skills Strategies for Cities", Trento, Italy, 11-13 June 2008
The objective of this seminar was to improve the capacity of partnerships to design and deliver integrated skills strategies. It focused on three main themes: (i) understanding local skills needs; (ii) building an integrated skills strategy and (iii) assessing the impact: moving from quantitative to qualitative assessment.
Round Table on "Local Governance in Local Development: the Role of Local Development Partnerships", Zagreb, Croatia, 10-11 March 2008
This round table was the conclusive part of the review project "Capacity Building for Effective Partnerships – An Active Review in Croatia" that the OECD LEED Programme and the U. S. Agency for International Development (USAID) mission in Croatia have jointly undertaken since 2007.

The conference was part of the project "Strengthening Entrepreneurship and Economic Development in East Germany" that the OECD LEED Programme has undertaken since 2005 in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Housing, Land, Construction, Transport and Urban Affairs, with the participation of the 6 eastern Länder.

The OECD LEED Programme has just released a report on "Enhancing the Capacity of Partnerships to Influence Policy” which gathers the experience of the two capacity building seminars organised by the Trento Centre for Local Development in close co-operation with the Forum office unit at the Centre for Social Innovation (ZSI) in Vienna Austria.
Review on "Fostering SME and Entrepreneurship Development in the Tourism Sector in Bulgaria", Sofia, Bulgaria, 18-22 June 2007
The review has been launched by the OECD LEED Trento Centre for Local Development in co-operation with the U. S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and its country mission in Bulgaria. It was an opportunity for policy makers at national and sub-national levels in Bulgaria to debate with international experts in refining the SME and tourism policy design and delivery.
2nd Festival of Economics in Trento, Italy, 30 May-3 June 2007
The city of Trento hosted for the second time the Festival of Economics which focused this year on issues related to human and social capital. The event was organised in cooperation with the OECD Trento Centre for Local Development.
