In 2009, the Poverty Reduction and Social Development team is organising several exciting events:

On 26-28 January, we will present the Gender, Institutions and Development (GID) Database in the framework of the 2nd Global Forum on Gender Statistics. The forum will also offer an occasion to present the updated Wikigender platform.
On 9 March, following International Women's Day, we will launch a new composite indicator measuring gender equality in social institutions. The indicator will be based on the updated GID Database, which will feature individual country notes and new ways to visualise data.
On 8 April, we will present our 2009 flagship report on "Informal is Normal? Towards More and Better Jobs in Developing Countries". The report analyses the important - and growing - phenomenon of informal employment and its effect on development.
