Mr. Nicholas BRIDGE

Ambassador Nicholas Bridge took up his duties as Permanent Representative of the United Kingdom to the OECD on 16 November 2011.
Prior to his nomination Mr. Bridge was Counsellor for Global Issues at the British Embassy in Washington DC, engaging the United States on a range of issues including business affairs, trade & investment, environment, energy, science & technology, innovation and transportation.
Previously Mr. Bridge was Chief Economist and Head of the Global Economy Department at the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office, responsible for the provision of economic advice to the Foreign Secretary and Board of Management, and earlier, Deputy Chief Economist.
In 2005 Mr. Bridge worked at Her Majesty’s Treasury and played a leading role in the launch of a $4 billion long-term international finance facility to vaccinate up to half a billion people in the world’s poorest countries.
Mr. Bridge had previous diplomatic postings in Beijing, China (2001-04) and Tokyo, Japan (1997-2001). He spent his early career in the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food.
Mr. Bridge was born in Yorkshire, England, in 1972. He graduated in economics from the University of Nottingham.
