Activities and outputs over the biennium 2008-2009 in more detail

Here is some more information on the key deliverables anticipated during 2008 and 2009. The work undertaken under the banner of the Global Project will depend both on the views of other partner organisations and the needs expressed among the network.  Work will also, of course, depend on the amount of funding and in-kind support received.  However, the following work is underway or expected to begin.

  • Handbook on “Measuring Progress in Practice” 
  • Guidelines on how to measure particular dimensions of progress 
  • Journal of the Progress of Societies 
  • Knowledge Base on Initiatives to Measure Progress
  • Training on Measuring the Progress of Societies  
  • Guidelines on How to Construct Initiatives at the Local and National Levels 
  • Report on what makes a set of key indicators successful 
  • Survey module to measure what citizens know about the progress of their society 
  • Library of Innovative ICT Tools 
  • Develop guidelines to disseminate statistical data and indicators to the public through old and new media (TV, Internet, etc.) and promote their use worldwide 
  • Promote the improvement of the transparency/interpretability of measures of societal progress through the development and the dissemination of adequate metadata, to increase comprehension of and trust in the statistical information
  • Promote the development of innovative ICT tools (software, web sites, videos, etc.) to present to policy makers and citizens statistical indicators concerning the progress of their societies
